Touch of First Rain Drop

When outside temperature soars to 51 Deg C, sunburn leaves blisters on your skin, scorching heat haunts you once you are outside office corridor, what can be more soothing than a few drops of rain, season’s first rain. We are relieved…. monsoon finally arrived in India.

Loved the  smell of moistened soil (or concrete) of Delhi; took a deep breath, remembered the childhood days, the smell from our courtyard in first rain; which we Bengalis lovingly call shonda matir gondho.  Missed my home, my native place, Duttapukur.

If you tell any Bengali in any part of the world, ‘ami shonda matir gondho bhalobashi’, for sure, you will get love and affection in return  🙂
